From 1995 until his recent retirement Ronnie Hughes and his partner Sarah Horton led A Sense of Place and worked with communities, social enterprises and individuals, mostly in Liverpool and around the North on what they’d always sum up as “helping to create better lives in better places.” Their helping would always involve stories, and the making up of new ones. Some would then be turned into films and later get told on their long-running blog, also called A Sense of Place. And some of the stories came true. Which is a story in itself. Before all that, Ronnie had a long career in a housing association, where he eventually met Sarah and they decided they’d try something different.
